Our Services

General Eye Examination

A general eye examination usually takes between 20-45 minutes. During this time, we will:

  • Perform internal and external eye health checks
  • Test refraction (the power of your eyes) and peripheral vision
  • Check for glaucoma, cataract and macular degeneration
  • Recommend the best eye care options for you
  • Check the balance and co-ordination of the eyes

Provision of Spectacles

Spectacles can be dispensed for long and short sightedness, as well as presbyopia (increased difficulty in reading). More specialised spectacles include low vision glasses, safety and prescription sunglasses. Talk to Beaumont and Bridgmount to find out more.

Visual Field Screening

A check on the peripheral vision can be part of a glaucoma check, but also used in the detection of space occupying lesions and detecting damage caused by a stroke.

Irlen Syndrome Screening

Beaumont & Bridgmount are able to screen for, diagnose and prescribe Irlen filters Symptoms include a slow reading rate, inefficient reading, poor reading comprehension, strain, fatigue and an inability to do continuous reading.

Contact Lens Fitting & Dispensing

Disposable contact lenses are mainly used nowadays due to their superior oxygen transmission. This means increased comfort, and less chance of long term complications happening to the cornea. Occasionally, some eye conditions do dictate that more rigid, gas permeable lenses are required, for more stable vision. Contact Beaumont and Bridgmount to find out what's right for you.

Glaucoma Screening

Beaumont and Bridgmount use the latest technology to scan and detect any signs of optic nerve damage. Screening for glaucoma is a quick, comfortable process that involves:

  • Eye fluid pressure tests (raised pressure is a risk factor)
  • Optic nerve checks using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology to scan and detect signs of damage
  • Peripheral vision monitoring (may indicate glaucoma development)

These examination techniques allow us to detect glaucoma at an early stage, and so minimise any vision loss.

Retinal Photography

Beaumont and Bridgmount also have the technology to photograph the back of the eye. We keep these on file as a permanent record so that we can check for any blood vessel changes inside the eye, and thereby monitor the health of the eye.
